The DYLAN LEX team has always been supportive of forgoing the use of buttons on a white dress shirt to show off some killer bling…. So none were more excited when Usher grooved across the stage at the 2020 Grammys sporting this look with one of our favorite pieces: MALALA.
The MALALA was inspired by our partnership with Vital Voices: an organization that invests in women leaders globally to create positive change in economic empowerment, human rights, political leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Our ethos to support bold badass women lead naturally to a collaboration with Vital Voices starting in 2018. Each piece in our VV collection gives 50% of its proceeds to Vital Voices and the Women they serve.
In the spirit of empowerment, this piece features the word “LEADER” written on the face of the pendant. Like all of our pieces, the design combines elements of vintage glamor with modern edge that says, “Don’t fuck with me, I defend the rights of women’s education across the globe and I survived an attack by the Taliban.”
The namesake for this piece, Malala Yousafazai perfectly embodies the heroic female leadership that our design symbolizes.
Pushing the boundaries between masculine and feminine, innovating within your field, inspiring individuality, expressing yourself through iconic style: so many reasons why DYLAN LEX feels connected to Prince and why we are honored to have been part of a moment that celebrated him.
We love being the thread that brings together killer pieces like MALALA, support for women’s empowerment with Vital Voices, and epic pop culture moments like that of Usher in his Prince tribute at the 2020 Grammys.
Who knows, maybe mens will be in our future...
